Wich way to turn bolt on crank pulley?

Postby Dan Lumbye » Tue Aug 30, 2016 2:30 pm

Hi

I have a hard time removing the bolt from the crankshaft-pulley. The pulley that drives the timing belts.
It struck me, that the bolt could have links-thread instead of normal thread.
Do some of you know that?

Best
Dan

It's a normal thread. Most people resort to using an impact wrench to break it loose.

Put the bike in 5th gear, have a helper step on the rear brake and use a breaker bar to undo the bolt. This way there is no impact shock to the drive line and crank assembly. 8-)
Ride safe, Todd

To remove it, put a socket on the alt rotor boot. To tighten to torque, you have to use other means, fifth gear and brake wedged. Or visa versa.
