STICKY Seat

Postby dapadest » Sun Sep 04, 2016 9:48 am

Help!
I have a 1983 Interstate 1100, and I'm not the original owner. Bought it 5 years ago with 34k miles on it. Thoroughly enjoy it with one exception, the seat is like sitting on one of those mouse glue traps!
I have tried cleaning it with just about everything, with the same result, I stick to it. I've tried leather cleaners and protectants, even
Baby powder with cornstarch when everything else had failed. The seat is CLEAN to say the least, just extremely sticky. Makes it a little difficult getting on and off after any length ride.
Has anyone had this problem and can point me in the right direction? ANY help would be greatly appreciated. You all have a great and safe riding day. Thanks.

Sounds like you need a new "skin" for your seat. E-bay has plenty of new seat covers. I bought one from Saddlemans for around $65.
The diamond pattern is not a perfect match to the OEM, but it is quite acceptable.
Very durable and fits perfect. Regards, Johnny

could be someone treated the seat with a ~ leather paint type product, made my faded seat look great in comparison, but got sticky on the first ride on a hot sunny day
