Headlight problem???

Postby rolltide9630 » Thu Aug 26, 2010 3:32 pm

Lately when I start my Wing for the ride to work in the wee hours of the morning, the headlight sometimes wont come on when I turn on the ignition. I can turn it back off then on again and they will come on. Any suggestions on where my problem is???

Probably your key switch is getting worn. If you turn it on, and the headlight doesn't come on, switch to high beam. If the headlight still doesn't come on, AND the blue high beam indicator doesn't come on, then the problem is most likely the key switch - especially if just turning the key off and back on again tends to fix it.

I have had 2 issues that caused the same thing at different times. A couple years ago, I had to drop the headlight out and wiggle the plug then it would work for a couple days; I replaced the bulb. The 2nd issue I have now I think is the start switch contacts, if I hit the start button again the light will come back on. It IS frustrating to change stuff and have that NOT be the problem, but sometimes intermittent problems are like that.
