Hi folks,
Just purchased a 82 Aspencade that has 87,000 miles. PO said the thermostat was changed and the radiator flushed. The bike is now heating according the the temp gauge. Took radiator out and thermostat. Thermostat says 82 degrees C, NTCL. The antifreeze looked very fresh with no crud. Took thermostat and put it in water on the stove and it started opening around 175 degrees with full open as the temp progressed higher. Any ideas that I could do too get my temp down? Thanks for all your help!

Is your fuel gauge also reading high at the same time?

Re: Overheating 82 Aspencade.
Thanks for the reply's. The temp gauge reads very high like close to hot and sometimes in the red zone, the fan is on because the PO put a manual switch on the fan instead of repairing the auto turn on switch, and the fuel gauge reads more to the full level even though I know I am below a quarter of a tank. Thanks again for all you help!!

Sounds like you might need a regulator. Check this out: 7 Volt Regulator
