Postby fuzzydog » Fri Sep 30, 2016 6:26 pm

I went to start my gl1100 after three years of storage it turns over and stated but then I think it is the starter cluch but a bolt backed out and throught what looks like a inspection cap on the back of the motor just above the starter

Easy fix if it is the stator bolt..take outer cover off and screw the bolt back in..that's it. And never turn the engine over with the bolt in a counter clock wise direction..that's what loosens the bolt only turn in clockwise direction.

FuzzyWuzziDog......Hey, thats the same issue I think I am having. When you started your Wing, did you have knocking noise back near the stator area? I just did a new post detailing what is happening with my 83 1100, and that the stator cap was missing and the stator bolt (same one you crank when moving the engine to Top Dead Center and locating the T1 Timing Mark) was a bit loose. I tightened it but still have that knocking noise.
