charlie.......So, your odometer stopped working by your "lcd" speedometer is working.......an 83 does not have any LCD speedometers as stock equipment. You mean you installed an LCD to replace the odometer?

Not sure if you can tear into the speedometer and search for the problem....maybe a worn drive gear inside?

Does the MPH gauge work? If both stopped working, then it could just be a broken cable, or a bad drive gear below the cable.

My whole dash cluster is all digital, speedometer, trip monitor, temp gage, compressor gage front and back shocks and fuel gage. The only thing analog is the Odometer. What's puzzling is there is only 1 cable for Speedometer and Odometer. Thanks Charlie

charlie.....OHHHHH....OK.....I did not notice the "a" behind the 1100. So, this is an Aspencade, with all the electronics, compressor, and bells and whistles......gottcha.

I guess there is a small computer chip that captures the rotation of the speedo/odo cable and converts it to a signal for the digital gauges. This is past my experience.....glad I have the cheaper GL1100 Interstate without all the computer gadgetry.

Charlie my was doing the same thing. I bought a spare speedometer off ebay and took both apart and changed the odometer out. Mine had a bad motor. It really isn't that bad, the worst part of the job is getting to the wiring behind the front weight.

Were you able to turn odometer to correct mileage?

I tried to roll the tumblers but was afraid I was going to break it, so I recorded both in my log to keep up with the orignal miles.
