rough idle after carb rebuild

Postby oldognewtrik » Mon Oct 10, 2016 6:59 pm

My GL1100 sat for about a year. It didn't start. I tried the Sea Foam (easy way out) and that didn't work. I pulled the carbs, cleaned and rebuilt them. Now my bike fires right up runs great out on the road. Now when I'm at idle, say at a stop sign, it really want's to die. I have to play with the throttle. When the light turns green I have to coax up the RPM and away I go. If I am the slightest bit aggressive on the throttle, it dies. Is this a carb sinc issue because I did not do that? Big ride coming up and I don't want my Harley buddies asking me "What's wrong"

It could be...or it could also be electrical. What voltage is your bike at when sitting at idle? If it's too low (i.e. weak battery) you will have weak spark, and this can be the result.

Yep,,
synch..so do it,

quicker fix is to turn up the idle but do the synch and do check your stator charge at idle 900/950 should be at least 12..
HAD LOTS OF GOLDWING 75-83
NOW INTO 1500'S..RIDING A 1998 SE

FAIR WINDS,
RB
