operating temp

Postby boudro » Thu Sep 02, 2010 2:51 pm

i have an 81 gl1100 was a basket case all the fairings was gone so on and so on any way i installed an aftermarket electric temp gauge in the hole for the fan switch as it was already gone.what would be a good estimate as to the operating temp from that port.it says it runs around 210 degrees f but runs great at that temp.

The fan thermostat is set for the fan to turn on between 208-216F and to turn off at 199-207F, so 210 is just about right - probably closer to 205 would be perfect.

Shot mine with a non-contact IR heat gun the other day after a ride and it was running 195 after a run and after a minute or two of sitting, when the fan kicked on it was 205... so I concur with the rest...
