Tank valve

Postby lyman54 » Sun Sep 05, 2010 10:02 am

Hi. I need a new tank valve ( shutoff, reserve ) for a 1980 GL1100 Interstate. Not sure of the proper thread. Would one that fits a Harley be ok? They are made in Japan or Taiwan anyways. Thanks.

Probably will not fit.

.I have some..$10 plus shipping. or try ebay..they do sell new gaskets for these and that's the only part you should need to rebuild to make them like new.

Ok thank you. It won't shut off for 1 thing, so I have no reserve. Ran out at 285 kms, or 178 miles. I'll see if local dealer has a gasket, if to hard to find I'll buy one off of you. Cheers

Yep, sounds like a leaky gasket..some of the valves are bolted together and are an easy fix some are riveted so have to be drilled out and then small bolts put in..to replace the gasket.
