CLUTCH CABLE

Post by sonnyboy » Mon Aug 17, 2009 8:31 am

MY FRIEND HAS AN 81 GWI AND HAS BORKEN TWO CABLES IN ABOUT 3 MONTHS. THE FIRST MAY HAVE BEEN ORIGANAL, NOT SURE, THE SECOND WAS FROM MOTION PRO. THE "BALL" PULLED FROM THE SECOND, THE FIRST JUST BROKE. WE DID INSTALL HD CLUTCH SPRINGS LAST YEAR. ANY COMMENTS, SUGGESTIONS ?

Certainly possible that the springs are a bit much, but if the original cable was in fact original, it could have just met the end of its service life - and the second cable could have just been bad.

It's not that big a deal to change the clutch cable, I would go ahead and put another one in there and see if third time's the charm. Don't forget to lube the cable.
