Postby aynew1 » Sun Oct 03, 2010 4:07 pm

just got done putting in a stereo on my '80 gl1100i and now i've got no headlight.checked the socket and there's no juice there, everything else seems to work o.k. there's power at the fuse, haven't got ant further than that, wanted to find out if there's an obvious place to go next

The first thing to try would be to jiggle the starter button.
When pressed the start button shuts off the headlight.
The stereo install might just be a coincidence.

Those glass fuses do sometimes fail invisibly. When I have an electrical problem like that, I first test BOTH sides of the fuses, while they are installed, to make sure there is power at both sides - that rules out the fuses first thing.
