Carb rebuild HELP!!

Postby riddinglowcr » Thu Oct 07, 2010 1:25 am

I did my first mess up and mixed these up. It says that they should not be mixed up because they go with each carb how can i find out what one goes to what carb?

Do NOT mix these up! They are paired with the carbs.

There is no way to match them up now. However I doubt you will have any problems. So don't worry about it. Make sure you polish the pistons so they move smoothly. If you can get hold of a jewelers scale you can weigh them and match them that way by removing material if any are heavier than the others. Randakk has a tech tip on this at his site so you can get the procedure from there. The 83 had a recall involving the carbs and they replaced "just the pistons" with teflon coated pistons. So how can it be that important?

Yep, no way to tell for sure..but after you clean them up..polish..put them like you have in the picture and give one one a shove and watch them bounce back up..if they are not all the same try switching the cylinder and try again..what you want is even bouncing on all four. They should corm back to the edge..
