Handlebar switch

My right side handlebar switch has a crack on the lower half ...I've been looking for a replacement one and the only ones available do not have the switch to turn the lights on/off
Its a 1982 gl1 100 in the UK. Any ideas on where to find one greatly appreciated ...thanks tom

That's going to be tough to find - the vast majority of 1100's made did not have that switch, so the number of them on the used parts market is going to be small.

What about repairing the crack?

I don't want to take it apart if I don't have to. .I have a new one without the light switch just wondering if I could make one out of both. Thanks

I believe it is possible, though it would take a bit of machining. You'll need to machine the slot, and drill/tap any holes necessary for mounting the switch. AFAIK, the housing is the same except for the extra machining.

Thanks for the reply .would the headlight switch just slot in because the wiring in the one without the switch would keep the lights on .i think as this is not my area of knowledge cheers tom

No. If you just plugged the non-switch wiring into the bike, the lights would not work at all. The wiring on the US bikes is slightly different: ie, the light wiring is looped, where the wiring for the UK goes through the switch (obviously, as it is a light switch).
