My 1100 forever had the neutral light on from the time I first put it on the road (it was a basket case), problem was in the neutral switch itself, which is a bear to get to. It's on the right side of the engine under the cylinders, access blocked by the frame. Pretty much have to remove the engine to get to it.

I finally just removed the lightbulb so it wasn't glowing in my face (at night it is really annoying.) The only real downside of this is you have to hunt to find neutral without the light working correctly (I sometimes inadvertently park the bike in a "false" neutral between 2nd and 3rd) and the starter will work with the bike in gear - lurches ahead if you go to start it and isn't in neutral.

However, recently I noticed the starter won't actuate without pulling the clutch if it's in that false neutral, after 50,000 miles it appears that switch may have fixed itself. I may have to put the bulb back in.
They say 98% of all Hardleys ever made are still on the road..... The other 2% made it home.
(I stole this from somebody on another GW site...)
