Bike wont start (video)

Post by frodeem » Tue Nov 21, 2017 3:24 pm

It has a new starter, new battery (full charge) but I am still having issues starting it. Am I correct in assuming that the solenoid needs to be replaced?

Maybe maybe not..do some tests..first remove the spark plugs and try it..if it turns over..you had hydrolock..gas in a cylinder..could bend a rod the start was strong..., if nothing then try shorting across the two big posts on the solenoid if it works then solemnized mostly yoiur issue if the battery is good, last is to jump the starter directly..positive cable to the start post neg to the bike frame/engine. If nothing may need a new starter..if it's shorted out..or just a cleaning.

Note don't let a spark from the plugs ignite gas from the open cylinders..pull the plugs from the wires and tie them up out of the way or turn the run switch to off.some bikes will still turn over others will not I forget which years will or won't

Ps hydrolock is caused by gas leaking through the carbs turn your petcock off when not riding. But if the carbs leak fuel into the cylinders time for a rebuild..
HAD LOTS OF GOLDWING 75-83
NOW INTO 1500'S..RIDING A 1998 SE

FAIR WINDS,

My thoughts exactly.
It looks like when you push the start button there is a tremendous current draw by the way the dash lights dim and loud thus noise. This indicates that the starter motor is not turning the engine over.
Get all the plugs out..Kill the spark and bump it again.A hydrolocked cylinder can eject raw gas 20 feet out the side of the bike.
Be warned and careful.

BTW I am thinking of covering the open cylinders with some rags if that's ok.
