1982 GL1100 Faring Removal?

Postby roger » Sat Aug 22, 2009 10:40 am

I have a 1982 Goldwing Asapencade which became hard to start and will not stay running after I removed the false tank and replaced the spark plugs and fuel filter. I gapped the plugs @ .9mm as per spec.
I need to remove the faring to access the spark and coil modules to continue truobleshooting but do not know where to begin. Is there an area with photos that I can access? Please help!!! :(

You don't need to remove the fairing, and if it is an Aspencade (i.e. with radio and Intercom) it is even more of a hellish job.

With the tank off, you can get to the modules, and can remove them if you pull the radiator off the front of the bike, without pulling the fairing.

The service manual section on this site has manuals that detail the installation/removal of the fairing should you decide to go that route.
