Tyre pressure!

Post by squirrel » Tue Dec 05, 2017 7:41 pm

I seem to be loosing pressure in my front tyre, the valve is good ,the tyre only has 3000 miles on it ,no puntures/splits from 36 psi it goes down to 22/24 over a period of a week would it be the rim ...as I have no idea what else to look for .thanks

If you're running tubeless tyres, then yes, I would say the tyre is not sealing on the rim properly. Ideally the tyre should be removed to check/clean up the rim and refit the tyre. Alternatively, pick up a bottle of 'Slime' from a motorcycle accessory shop and put about half of it in the tyre. It will seal the leak and any punctures that you may pick up from screws/nails in the tyre. I've used it on both my FJ1200 and GS500 and it works brilliantly. Just remember to tell the tyre fitter you have sealer in the tyre when you eventually have to change it......They get a bit upset if they're not prepared for it when they put the wheel on the bead-breaker! :D
