Clarion II Radio Module - 1983 GL1100A

Postby flyingKOW » Sun Oct 24, 2010 7:03 pm

I have a 1983 GL1100A and the Clarion II radio has not worked right since I bought the bike this past June.

This past week, I finally got the time to take the dash module apart. I found burnt circuits on the selector switch for AM and FM. There are a total of 12 pins on the switch, but only 6 are used in the Clarion II module. There are four circuit traces that leave the switch as two sets of two pins each share circuit traces. I have found and repaired the reason for the burnt circuits, but I now need a schematic to rewire the AM/FM selector switch back into the system. The circuit traces on the printed circuit membrane are too badly burnt to make any details or I would go by it as I have sometimes been able to in the past when repairing electronics.

The image that giffen49 uploaded at shows the switch at the lower left of the image. (This is the image I used below) But, due to the fact the printed circuit membrane is laying sideways in the image, it doesn't do me any good.

Does anyone have a schematic, or a picture of the switch that visibly shows which circuit trace connects to which pin on the switch?

Thank you, in advance, for your assistance!

You might want to ask giffen49, as that is a picture he took while fixing his switches.

Also, have a look at this thread: 1983 GL1100A Clarion II locked on 87.9?
