Question.?? I have an 81 interstate 1100 that I am removing all of the dress (fairing, bags etc.) There is a front fork counter weight that states to make sure it is in use WITH the fairing. Does this need to be kept in use if I am using without the fairing?

No, it is meant to replace the weight of the headlight to dampen shakes.

dwpowell1,

Would you happen to have a picture of the setup before uninstalling it ? I'm trying to do the opposite of what you are doing and would like to install the counter weight and black box/case for the headlight harness as I have a Vetter fairing and the weight was missing on the bike. It looks tricky with the existing space on my 1982 Standard With Vetter fairing.

Thanks in advance

InidianRider: No I am sorry I do not have a picture. I just removed my setup. The box was difficult as the harness enters from the bottom and than all connections are made in the box than it all exits the top of the box. Do you have the fork brackets to mount the box and weight? I do not have the actual box as I cut mine to remove but I do have all the rest of the brackets and weight if you are needing.
