79 or 80?

Post by rpsanders » Thu Nov 04, 2010 9:08 am

i recently purchased a beautiful Goldwing with the understanding that it was a 1979 GL 1100. After a little research i've found that there are no 1100 79's. the 1100 wasn't built until 1980. The bike has vetter hard bags and a full console with no markings. Are there any markings I could look for the determine the year model? btw it runs great!

What does the title say? I think there's something in print on the ID stricker on the front part of the frame above where the forks live..

On the downtube (the part of the frame where the front wheel pivots left and right so you can steer), you should see a metal plate, I believe it's on the left side if I recall correctly. It should have the year as well as the VIN on it.
