Only the Aspencade had a compressor in 1982, and the controls were mounted right on the top of the false tank - you can see them in this picture:

Hmmmm. According to the GoldWing Specs guide:

http://www.goldwingdocs.com/Docs/Honda%20Goldwing%20Specifications-8092B.pdf

An on-board compressor was at least optional on the '82 Interstate. I have a "rear pressure" light in the tach guage which flicks off within a few seconds of turning on the key. I made the assumption (probably in error) that this light is an indication that the on-board compressor has brought the rears up to minimal pressure. I don't have a control console as shown above so I could be WAY off in my assumption! My thought to prove it out was to connect an air pressure guage to the rear air line and see if pressure changes during startup.

Beings I'm new to Wings, I bow to those who know what they are talking about.

While the light don't come on when you are riding is OK.

When you put the ignition is normal that light on as proof (bulb is ok).

Could be that the previous owner remove the OEM shock absorbers with others (without air valve).

Regards.
