Spark plug wire's

Postby littlebeaver » Mon Jan 17, 2011 2:20 pm

Hello Gents, I am planning on changing out my plug wires, here's what I know, they need to be 7mm and copper core. My question is what's the best source of aftermarket wires, and what's the difference in Hot Wires to regular wires? Thank's in advance.. :D Oh and how do you test the cap's, they have built in resistor's correct.?? Can someone please explain..

The Service Manual for the 83 models says 5K +_ 10%.

Between the folks on the forum and the Honda Manual you can't go wrong!

Yea, I read that there is a spark wire set that fit's the goldwing, caps and all, it's for a 85 Honda prelude, I think it's the 2.0 one, it was over on another site a few years back but I wondered if anyone has tried it? Same boots and all, but does it have to be copper core? I looked on the Autozone site and it said they were not copper core..What's the difference..??

I believe if memory serves me right the carbon core decreases the static generated that causes radio interferance.

I believe the total resistance is for the coil output.

Sorry I thought the caps had built in resistors.. Hey check out what I found surfing the web, tell me what you think, I went to my autozone page to take a look at them and they sure look like the boot's they almost look the same..Here's the page I found..

I'm going to use the Bosch Ultra Premium wire set with the mag core and I will see what happens..they are used in the 4 cylinder Honda Preludes..I have a set of copper core ones too..But I love to test stuff.. No, I changed my mind , back to copper core I go..
