Which part of the choke? The knob? The actuator? Or the actual choke mechanism in the carb?

There is a metal bracket just below the speedometer, above and to the left of the left handlebar clamp that the choke goes into and screws in place. The bracket is fastened into place using the left upper handlebar clamp screw.

That's not the greatest image of it, you can see it in the bottom of these images here as well:

I guess all chokes on the 1982 A's are not all alike. Mine is on the left handel bar and is a lever style. I have seen
plenty of the push pull types, and only one other one like on mine. Could be after serial number or something like that changes
the part number ?

I should get a better picture I know, but it's still cold out in the garage ha ha

That lever style choke on the left handlebar did not come along until 1983. Are you sure yours is a 1982?

That's definitely not an 82 choke - it must have been added by PO who didn't like the "pull the knob choke" native to the 82.

The Honda choke lever used on the 83 is part of the clutch lever mounting:

I did see one other one like mine at a car show, and never thought to go look up a 1983 system.I guess when the day comes
to replace the cable, I would have found this out. Thanks for the heads up once again !!

Tnx little beaver. And yes the helmet was painted to match the bike. Also the wife's is matching too, but not sure if i will ever get her to ride again after dumping the bike on what I call a long trip for these old bones. I removed the toe/heal shifter
and some of the big boards to get my but closer too the ground. And also working on the seat too. Next I may have to replace
the back springs to lower it.Of coarse I have to make sure to convince the little woman that all this will keep it standing up right !!
