How do you replace the head light on an 1982 Goldwing Inters

Postby dph03 » Mon Mar 14, 2011 1:16 pm

How do you replace the head light on an 1982 Goldwing Interstate. The manual says to remove the 3 cover screws, but it looks like I cannot get to them because there behind the fairing. Do I have to remove the fairing first? Can I just replace the bulb by getting to it by removing the turn signal light?

Behind the instrument cluster is the headlight adjuster.Remove that knob and the large nut.The whole lamp assembly will come out.

yes, perfect. Easy instructions. BUT, the new light is not working. Any ideas? I'm checking the wiring.
Any ideas?

If you put the old bulb back in, does it work? (low and high beams)

to test, I plugged in the new bulb & the old bulb right into the connector, without putting it in the light housing. neither work.
I'm not getting current to the connector with a tester.

near there, I added a cig lighter to charge my phone. I think it was the old connection to the cb radio, but I think they're totally different circuits. This morning was the first time I needed the light since that addition.

Time to check your fuse. There is a fuse dedicated to the headlight, you're going to want to make sure it hasn't blown or otherwise failed.
