Rear Shocks

Postby budryzer » Tue Sep 22, 2009 12:16 pm

Greetings,
I have an 82 ASP and I have done a search for leaky shocks on the forum but it only gave me ideas for a replacemnet item. I have done soapy water checks to see if I can see where they might be leaking with no luck. Is there a general area of this system where they typically deteriorate? It seems as if it looses pressure within 20 minutes. I replaced the O ring on the splitter by the rear brake cylinder already. The shocks appear to be in very good condition. Any Help?

Hi,
Is It a possibility after riding this bike for a little that the valve that lets you check/service the front and rear might be bleeding over after pressing??? Has anyone heard of this????

That's certainly possible. If you disassemble the inflate/deflate button housing, you'll find that there are simple schrader valves in there - you can spray some soapy water on them and look for bubbles.
