Ebay gasket set

Postby cpawilly » Mon Apr 04, 2011 4:51 pm

They are Junk, don't know what luck others have had but my complete gasket set I bought a few weeks ago is not working out so well. Can't find the waterpump o rings and the head gaskets seem to be off center. One cylinder is perfect and the other is off to the side a few mm. I guess you get what you pay for but $120 ought to get you something that can be used. Just trying to prevent others from wasting money. Or maybe my experience is unique. Guess I'll head off to the Honda dealer who stocks nothing and wait another week.

Post the seller so others know not to buy. If it's from sabercycle then it's a given that it won't be right.

The seller is "usa-motorcycles-inc". I just check and the bore is 76.8mm. Isn't that for the 1200? I am thinking the manufacturer that made these must think they will fit all GW. The old copper gaskets were a little over 75mm. I have looked for copper replacements but all the pics on the web show the exact same gasket. How is a guy to know which one to buy???????

Your Price: $128.99

It's spendy and I have the other gaskets but I trust them. Anyone used the Vesrah Gaskets?

never ordered a gasket set from them, but I have had outstanding result with dennis kirk. I had an item that was damaged upon delivery, called them up and they sent the replacement out the same day, taking only my word that I would send back the damaged part within a week or be charged for the new one. Great company in my opinion.

one issue I see is the list of years and models. To the best of my knowledge, the 1100 was last made in 1983. so the 84 and 85 listed are 1200's. Might be the reason for the head gasket issue. But aside from that, it states that they would like to try to resolve any issues without negative feedback. Tried calling them and explaining the situation? Maybe you'll get lucky and have a replacement sent. Always assuming you get someone that speaks the language well enough to understand....

Vesrah is a Japanese company and makes quality stuff IMO. I've used their gaskets in VW's with no problems.

Agreed - their auction says "COMPLETE HIGH QUALITY GASKET SET WILL FIT" and then proceeds to list all GL1100 AND GL1200 models. Sorry, but there is no head gasket kit that will fit both 1100 and 1200's - they're different sizes, as you have discovered.

Well good news. I sent the seller a picture and he agreed that they are wrong and refunded me the cost of my new gaskets. Surprised me for sure.
