GL1100 headlight

Postby lyman54 » Fri Apr 08, 2011 7:03 pm

Hi guys, I have a problem thats driving me nuts. It's a 1981 GL1100 with a Vetter fairing. The headlight just stopped working. I've tried everything except check the light itself because I can't get it off. Does the front ring unscrew somehow? I see two nuts on either side, but inside the fairing and can't get at them. Besides the adjustment for the light do these screws have to come out? Can I get the sealed beam out another way? I'm lost and fed up by now. Any help would sure be appreciated, thanks.

I just went out to the shed and looked at an old Vetter fairing I have kicking around. The headlight is out but it looks like there is a screw at the 6 o'clock position that looks like it may remove the chrome keeper ring. There is adjuster screws at 12 and 9 o'clock as seen from the front.
Ride safe, Todd
Over night campers welcome
