It's fairly easy. On the height adjustment knob, on the back side of the fairing, there is a small set screw. Loosen this screw until you can pull the knob off. You'll then see a nut, and two washers that you have to remove. Once those are removed, you can pull the headlight out the front of the fairing.

As for wiring diagrams, they are in the back of the Honda Service Manuals that can be downloaded from the manuals page on this site.

Do you have a fairing on this bike?

The shaft it butts up against is flat on one side, to keep the knob from just spinning in place. On my bike, the genius PO had put the knob on so that the set screw was against the round side of the shaft, then screwed it in so tight that it left an indentation on the shaft. Of course, getting it off was a nightmare. I used PB Blaster and lots of force, and it would not budge. Finally, in desperation, I used brute force to try to rotate the knob past its stop - and it rotated on the shaft, to the point where the set screw now was on the flat side - and the knob popped right off. Once the thing was off, the set screw came out easily - of course.

Yes, it's an Interstate. That makes the set screw hard to get at (and it's a phillips head).

Don't spook the road sheep.
