This is a 1982 honda aspencade 1100 -i bought this 3 months ago-i put 300 miles on it and all of a sudden the heat guage goes to hot-i ride it on down the road and it goes to cool-i direct wired the fan to see if it was working-it was- but didn't change the temp-still the same-up and down-the gas guage pretty much stays on full also-any ideas-thanks :x

Yup. Your 7 volt regulator has packed it in. This regulator runs only the temperature and fuel gauges, and when it starts to fail, it often does so intermittently - letting a full 12 volts through (which pegs both your fuel and temperature gauges), then suddenly working correctly again, bringing it down to 7 volts, which returns your gauges to normal operation.

You can get an aftermarket replacement here, with instructions on how to replace it.
