Head Bolt Torque

Postby dnvldw14874 » Thu May 12, 2011 3:09 pm

I have a 82 1100 and am getting ready to replace my head gaskets. What is the torque and procedure (tighten em evenly etc). I have looked through quite a few of the questions already asked that touch on this subject, but they have different torques, one person said that they had to replace the threads with a helik coil. I just want to do it once and be done with it. Please make this crystal clear for me.

BIG Question, do you have the Honda Manual? Starting around page 104 is the procedure. The big thing is to rotate the crankshaft 90 degrees off TDC. This will keep from bending the vales when you install the cams. I believe all 1100s are the same the final torque is 40 ft lbs n the main bolts then torques the small bolt at the bottom. After the head is done them install the cams and line thigs up for the timing belts. Take the bolts up in three stages and make sure when you start that the oil control oriface is in before you clsoe it up.

Crap. So the Cams have to come off to get to the middle bolts. Correct? No, I have not invested in the manual yet. So what is the torq and order to tighten the cams down. I wasn't thinking. for some reason I was hoping the four visable bolts would be the ones I would be taking off and tightening. That sounds simple. Too bad I was wrong. There is six. Duh! Something has to hold down the middle of the head. Oh yeah. could you give me more information on the oil orifice you were talking about.
