Postby M&T82WING » Sun Oct 04, 2009 3:38 pm

Hi everyone
Mark & Tamille here we have a 1982 GL1100 Interstate I moved the seat back to the middle position. The resualt is now the back of the pasenger seat is under the trunk. Our seat is a travelcade after market, Is there kit or a way to move the trunk back lets say about two inch's to make more room for my lovley passenger?

Yup, it's called a trunk relocation kit, and you'll find them on the Internet from various vendors. I did a quick search and found one here:

(look near the bottom of the page).

I had the same relocation kit from cyclemax and had to return it. I have an 1100 and the company told me it would work, but the mounting holes were not close enough for my liking, and I was not crazy about drilling holes in the bottom of my trunk. I could have lived with the part about not having a quick release on the trunk, but did not want to drill them. And the way it would have looked versus the two inches I would have gained was not worth it to me. I am considering having a friend of mine that has a fab shop make a new bracket as close to original design as he can that is streached out a little more and moves the trunk back and have it chromed. My end up paying way more than it is worth, but it will be worth it to me in the long run because it would bug me to do a job that I know I don't like from the start.
