Need a Speedo, Badly

Postby DragonRider » Tue May 24, 2011 7:14 pm

We need a speedometer for a 82 GL1100. the one that is currently on bike is very hard to read since it wont settle on any one speed.
sending unit on front wheel and cable are all 100% new so only thing left is the speedo itself.
will any speedo work or do I need one for this year and type bike?

Today while my wife was riding the bike the needle on the speedo broke off, so I guess that settles that issue I need to find a new speedo for this bike.

I have 2 old spedo's(not sure of the condition) in a box,but first,I know that they are not from a aspencade. The differences may be 2 things.the max dial mph and if it has a pulse switch (or some part)mounted inside near the cable attachment for the turn signal canceler and if the red light near the bottom says OD or low air pressure.I've had so many conflicting reports of what went with which model,I just put one on my 1100 that worked and had the pulse switch.Yes it's off accuracy.I used my tom tom to check it.I read 45 on the spedo but I'm running 52. I just compensate in my head to stay legal.

Here are the pix of the 2 spedo's.The one that goes to 150 has been opened, and has the 2 wires for the sensor. There is a reflection on the front .They are 30 years old and not very clean but all the parts are there.I can't guarantee the condition obviously but you may be able to restore one to usable condition.
the other spedo goes to 80 mph and has 2 sets of cables coming out of it.

If it's something you deal with i'll give you the one you need, just pay for shipping.Usually about 6 or 7 bucks(deal with that later)
If you need a plug and play, check this number on E-Bay 390317730749 160575984271
