Greetings from Iceland

Post by raggun » Wed May 25, 2011 5:30 pm

Hi everybody
Just bought my first Goldwing, a 1981 standard beauty with 35.000 miles on the clock. Bought it in the USA and she should have landed here in Iceland by the end of June.

The seller says the bike handles beautifully so I am looking forward to taking here for my annual spin on highway nr. 1 the so called ring road around Iceland.

Please feel free to check out my photos from recent trips at

I need however some soft saddlebags or panners for my bike.

Any recommendations? Do I need some support for the bags?

Regards Ragnar from Reykjavik

Great pics,, Brought back memories. I was in Keflavik several times while a member of the Navy Reserve. Loved to go to Rekyavik. ( sorry if I misspelled it) Really enjoyed time away on tours.

Spent a year in Keflavik with the AWACS unit. Best tour of my 21 years in the AF. Didn't see any motorcycles while there. You'll be that talk of the town with that Wing. Congrats

Welcome from Oklahoma. How is the ash cloud there. Looks like you might need a cover and new air filters also.
J C Whitney has a good supply of soft bags. Yes you will need to get or make a set of supports for the bags or they will lay against the shocks and not hang straight also they will fly in the wind if not tied down.

Welcome to the site Ragnar. From one Norser to another, these wings are great, all of them. I hope to have the opportunity to visit Iceland one day, and you would be welcome to Canada...

It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey

I would like to thank everybody for a warm welcome. Once again the motorcycle community proves to be an international brotherhood regardless of race or religion. Do not hesitate to contact me if you ever find yourself on the way to my homeland.

Kind regards Ragnar
