Carb part ID

Postby cbach1981 » Mon May 30, 2011 7:24 pm

Can anyone tell me exactly what the pushed in part is called that goes in the middle tower and is part of the needle jet kit? Presses in before threading in the needle jet holder and main jet. I seem to have lost this part out of the #3 carb, probably because I didn't know it came out and may have sent it flying as i was cleaning with compessed air over the winter. Would like to find one without having to buy the whole set.

You only need two tools in life - wd-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the wd-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape!

Looking at the fiche diagram of a GL1100 carb, it lists (inside to outside) Needle Set, Jet then the Holder, Needle Jet, then the Jet, Main. I'm assuming you're talking about the Jet Needle Set?

I circled the part in the above pic. Goes into the body before the needle jet holder. It is included in the needle jet set, along with a new needle and cap. hope this helps

That IS the needle jet holder, then the needle jet then the jet needle. It is silver, prtrudes into the carb body,(venturi)the jet needle slides into it ,the needle jet is the emulsion tube in the tower with the main screwed into it. presses out from the venturi side if you want to.

Upon further review and research, I found that that part is not the needle jet holder, but the "needle jet" itself. found on a rebuild walk-thru on the ngw site

Yeah,I'm backwars. Jet needle as part of the slide, slides into the jet needle holder, which is backed up by the needle jet, emulsion tube. Whatever, you got it.
