Spark plug hole fills with water

Postby tprender » Mon May 30, 2011 8:42 pm

I have to leave my Gl1100 outside all of the time, but it is covered with a motorcycle cover. I noticed the other day that the back plug hole on the right side is filling up about half way with water. Isn't there supposed to be a drain hole for each plug hole if this happens? If there is, can I just take a wire and try to find the hole an clean it out?

Yes, and yes. A coat hanger wire will clean it out nicely. Have a look at the other plug wells and you should be able to see where that hole is.

I would pull plug wires (leave plugs installed) and as said use a coat hanger to find the hole, onec found clean hole out real well before reinstalling plug wires. All kinds of junk collects in there, I have found a small screw wedged in one and had to use a magnet to help get it out.
