recently got a 82 interstate 1100 and discoverd rear caliper was changed but it was changed to a 81 caliper which is a single piston and the shoe is rubbing on rotor. question will a 81 rotor fit on a 82 or should i look for a 82 caliper

I have not tried it but I am sure the rotors will swap out. HOWEVER! Brakes are a major safety item and personally I would rather have the best braking system I could get. With that said I would recomend a new (or rebuilt '82) two piston caliper, new EBC rotor and new pads.
This is what I put on my wifes bike and they are fantastic.

Your brakes and you helmet should always be purchased by how much your life is worth.
