electric problem on 82

Post by jaetwa » Tue Jun 07, 2011 4:49 am

Greetings. After sorting out all issues with engine and carbs finally I can focus on other issues.
Right now I have problem with electric system. Since I installed fake tank, my fuel gauge and neutral light stop working.
Also after test drive around the block my starter refuse to work! Only when I push starter button – my “neutral” light comes on!?
Any idea? BTW after I wiggle all connectors, starter is working again.
It looks like ground issues – who can help and provide wiring diagram?

I agree, it does sound like a grounding issue. You can find schematics if you click "Manuals" at the top of the page.

Might want to check the wires and clean all the ones you can... i personally took apart the ones to my fuse box and sanded them to make sure i had a good connection and did the same thing for the ones available to me. This was because my bike was parked for a while, but most deff yes clean all the connectors you can. And check the grounds.
