leaking at weep hole

Postby red dog » Sun Oct 18, 2009 6:13 pm

I put the wrong antifreeze in and drove 10 miles. Now I have a drip out of the weep hole. My 1982 gl1100 only has 57k,do I need to replace the water pump or can I just do new gaskets and orings like a kit?

That's just about the mileage my 82 had when the water pump started to leak. If you put the wrong coolant in, the damage is done - I'd say bite the bullet and replace the pump. Better that than doing just the o-rings, and then having to take it all apart again all over again because it still leaks.
