Seafoam in oil

Postby DragonRider » Sun Jun 19, 2011 3:09 pm

I just changed my oil and now I have to go on a long distance trip 1300 miles in 40 hours. I was planning on running seafoam thru my oil to clean everything out. the question I have is if I put say 2 ounces of seafoam in before I start the trip will that hurt the oil?
usually I do 1/2 can of seafoam and run about 100 miles and then change oil and filter, but if I can do just a few ounces and clean it during a long trip I could save some time. Has anyone tried this, or should I just wait till I get home?

Isopropanol, light oil and naptha disperse sediment debris and allow it to solubilize in the circulating oil. Engine oil additives are not recommended or proven useful in enhancing lubrication. Please, show me otherwise.

I put Seafoam in my oil, but only for the last 50 to 100 miles before an oil change. Seafoam will knock a lota crud loose and you'll want it outa there pretty quickly. I would NOT add it before such a long trip.
