two 83 aspencades

Postby TerryRuth » Wed Jun 22, 2011 11:59 pm

voltmeter quit couple years ago on # 1
bought a real nice 89000 km(55000 mi) one
want to keep it
going to take all the BLING off #1
no voltmeter on it
WORSE........CLOCK STAYS ON...kills battery
took the radio out........clocks still ticking
tried to set time...........nope
disconnected battery ..nope , fires right back up 1:00 pm
see 5 fuse holders under left signal...........??
put a COMPLETE harness in a 450 twin couple years back
not very good at electronics
Advise please Dyi or take it to dealer ?
Terry

Is it possible that some of the fuses in the fairing have been connected wrong? There is a "always on" fuse in there that's intended to keep the clock running when the bike is off. Make sure all the fuse holders are connected correctly (wire colors match).

Wireing is something that takes time, and with the limited space in the fairing you need to stay calm. carefully check ALL wires, colors should match going in and out. Just go slowly..
