any ideas how to remove?

Postby TGStorm » Sun Jun 26, 2011 1:29 pm

I wish to remove the old cig lighter and replace with a new one, so I can charge my phone and other stuff if needed while riding.... problem is I must be missing something on how to remove it, there seems to be no way to unscrew it nor does it want to easliy pop off, so what am I missing?

I'm trying to remember but it seems like there is a nut on the back side of the lighter receiver part that holds everything in place try turning that whole sleeve on the inside and hold the front..I could be wrong, please don't abuse me if I am ..As I'm often wrong about stuff.. Just keep in mind I said it seems like..... :D

It depends on who the manufacturer is (there is no OEM lighter socket), but like littlebeaver said, MOST of them have a threaded ring on the back side that turns to loosen the thing, and it then pulls out from the front.

When I take the turn signal out and look, there is no nut and it just turns freely. Here is a pic of the outside, that big ring just turns freely on the outside,, so this has me baffled

I have put 3 12volt plugs on my bike. #1 is the cigarette lighter in the fairing stock position and #2 and #3 are located on the front of each saddle bag the have a spring loaded cover and I have them wired to the battery with a fuse and a 2 prong trailer plug (just in case I need to remove the bags) I now have power any time I need it and so does my passanger.
