I have a 1983 GL1100i. I've been tinkering with it until it goes to a Honda dealer in a week or two to have the carbs rebuilt. The PO said it has a stuck float. He said it will leak fuel when you try to run it. So I figured I would see if he was right. I started by removing the plugs and spraing WD40 in each cylinder. I then hit the starter button with the kill switch off to move the WD40 around and lube the cylinder walls.I let it sit while I drained the old gas from the tank. I bought some Marvels Mystery Oil and a few gallons of gas. I put in about 4 oz of MM in the tank with the gas. I turned the fuel petcock to on and tried to start it. It sputtered and almost started a few times. It was about then I realized that the PO was right. It was leaking fuel from the middle of the exhaust, where the tubes connect. I also noticed a little bit of fuel right below where the air filter sits.
So my question is this; does this sound like a stuck float or something more serious.
