GL1100 dies after 1 mnute

Post by icolt45 » Sun Jul 03, 2011 8:15 pm

Hi my first time here? I have a 1982 Honda GL 1100 if you let it set i will start and run for about 1 minute? then seem to die off? I have changed the fuel filter! But now what?If you hit it with ether it will run for a moment? Could the fuel pump be bad? and it is leaking just enough to start it after you let it sit?

Try it with the gas cap open and see if it makes any difference.

Pull all 4 plugs(eases cranking)kill switch turned to kill spark.pull the fuel line off the carbs.crank engine to pressure test the pump at 2-2.5 psi.check fuel flow.If it checks ok,the micro screens under the valve seats may be plugged enough to get a little fuel but not enough to sustain running demand.
