No Power

Postby iamthebigdogdad » Thu Jul 07, 2011 12:19 pm

I have a 82 aspencade. The main wiring harness suffered a nucler melt down and I replaced it with a new one. Everything worked fine as it should, finished putting it together and took it for a ride. Now I do not have any inticator lights, turn signals, headlight, or running lights and the temp and fuel guage doesent work. However the bike runs fine and I have a brake light and horn. Any Sugestions. Thanks Big Mike

Hi Mike, did you check the fuses, could be a relay, or you forgot to gound some of the parts of the bike. go over your wiring and make shure they are in the right place.

Quick question: You said everything worked fine, and now you have no turn lights, headlight, etc. Did these work after the new harness install and have stopped working since, or have they not worked since the new harness was installed?

Yes they worked after the new harness was put in. I did find a blown fuse and fixed that and now everything works except for the headlight. I have checked all of the fuses in the fuse box and they are all good. The headlight did work and the high beam indicator worked now neither work? Any suggestions would help. Thanks Big Mike

did the bulb burn out? Sometimes in cars a spike will not only get fuses but bulbs as well. Also check and see if the ground is good, and the connections to the light have continuity. Check and see if the connector to the switch is good. These gremlins are a matter of grabbing the tester and testing the light circuit, and making sure all your grounds are good.
