straight pipes on a 1980 Interstate

Postby lgsparks1 » Sat Jul 23, 2011 9:23 pm

Has anyone ever ran just straight pipes on their goldwing? I was thinkig about cutting the mufflers off and running straight fishtail pipes with no mufflers.

why?
4 cyl. engines dont, wont and cant sound like a V-engine. Loud exhaust on a 4cyl just sounds like loud angry bees.

I have seen straight pipes on a wing. Didn't like the sound(noise)it did work though-you would have to rejet the carbs and mabey open up the intake

Not looking for v twin sound, just thought it might look good. Think I'll just go with some Harley dyna mufflers. Don't won't to have to rejet the carbs. Thanks for the advice!!!

Excellent job on your pipes, watched your tube footage, looks good and I know from first hand experience the sound you get get is at least 50x better than the footage sound. Whatever people may say its all about what you love and thats why I love my 86 SEi because its all about what I want.
GREAT JOB
Frank
