Exhaust gaskets

Postby Goldwing 80 » Sun Jul 31, 2011 2:59 pm

Just dropped the exhaust on my 80 gl 1100 and noticed there is no gaskets up in the head,or on the flange of the exhaust. Now,nothing was leaking,I just took them off to clean them.Is there supposed to be gaskets there,or is it just a metal to metal seal?

I think there should be a gasket in there, I think it is a metal fiber style.

It's not what you buy, it's what you build.

Thanks for the info.I was reading the first thread in the tech talk section titled Cross reference part numbers, and seen crush gasket felpro part number 60567 for the flange,so I went and bought 4 of them, and they dont fit.I ended up just putting the exhaust back on,and it's not leaking.

Sometimes you can get away with reusing those crush gaskets. I did the same thing on my after replacing the starter. The ones I ordered of course didnt fit. I did get an extra couple of sets in case I need them.
