83 int. clutch

I replaced the clutch cable on my 83 interstate last summer. Recently I find myself adjusting and re adjusting the cable because I am not sure just where the lever should be when the clutch starts to move the bike. Is it just a matter of preference? I always make sure that there is slack at the grip and down by the rear brake. Sometimes it is set at a spot that makes the bike hard to start (does that make sense?) Is there a way to test if the clutch is bad? (Put it in gear and 'pop' the clutch and see if it stalls? :lol: :lol: )

Have a look at How to replace your clutch cable.

At step 19, it shows you how to adjust the cable properly, and how to measure for the correct amount of free play.
