1983 GL Nuetral switch wiring route

I am in the midst of a total rebuild of a 1983 Aspencade.
Currently assembling the engine.
My manual tells me that I should "Check that the nuetral switch wire is routed correctly, then install both heat shields".
Heat shields being the two short sections that bolt to the cylinder heads behind the camshaft pulleys.
Now, it may well be that this wire needs to go behind one of these heat shields but I have searched two manuals and cannot find exactly how this should be routed and given that all the wiring is out of the frame I cannot use that to see how it might match up.
If I assemble the front of the engine with this wire routed incorrectly I may well have to disassemble quite a bit to correct it so I would greatly appreciate some knowledgeable assistance.
This note comes from the Land Down Under where there are Goldwings but not so many so finding another 83 to use as a guide would be difficult given that Honda inported 7 Aspencades in 1983.
