Transmission noise

Post by curt-51 » Tue Nov 24, 2009 3:07 pm

Just bought a 81 Goldwing. I have noticed a slight whine in the transmission when running down the road. Is this normal or something I should check into? Thanks

It's normal - the bikes have straight-cut gears, and they do produce a bit of whine. If it's bothering you, you can try putting a synthetic or lighter-weight oil in the bike, and it will reduce it. But as long as you've got good, correct type of oil in there, it's not doing any damage.
