'81 gl1100 front master cylinder question?

Postby ritewing9 » Sat Sep 03, 2011 7:16 pm

From what I have read about it , it seems that the reservoir should lift up and off the cylinder body. I can't get mine to budge. Tried prying it off with stiff putty knife and I don't want to break it. But, this thing won't pop off.
Any ideas on this would be nice, thanks.

 Yes top is off. 3 of the screws broke off as I was removing them, They were rusted pretty bad. Thanks, I will try the wedge thing.

Thanks Gerson, I wedged 4 or 5 oak wedges in at different points. Res. was bent up at corners about 1/2". I sat it down to think what to do next. All of a sudden it popped and the res. shot off the base like a gun. Went down my driveway about 20'. It seems to be OK though. Good thing it was not pointed at my face :geek:
